THOMAS C. GEISER
Thomas C. Geiser has served as advisor and legal counsel to numerous health care organizations with a focus on health care financing and delivery.
Mr. Geiser served as the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of WellPoint Health Networks Inc. from its inception in 1993 until 2005. As WellPoint’s chief counsel, he was extensively involved in all of the company’s mergers and acquisitions and in its numerous public securities offerings. He was responsible for WellPoint’s legal, legislative and regulatory affairs in 50 states and served as its principal contact with state and federal regulators. He was also responsible for all of the company’s litigation, including the litigation of its affiliated Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans and health insurance companies.
Prior to joining WellPoint, Mr. Geiser spent 15 years as an attorney in private law practice, coming to WellPoint from Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in San Francisco, California. He was also a partner in Epstein, Becker, Stromberg & Green and in Hanson, Bridgett, Marcus, Vlahos & Stromberg in San Francisco.
Mr. Geiser received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in 1977 and his B.A. from the University of Redlands in 1972. He has been elected to Best Lawyers in America and was named to 100 Most Influential Attorneys in California by California Law Business.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of EBS Parent, LLC, Providence Saint John's Health Center and the Library Foundation of Los Angeles. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Stanford University Institute for Research in the Social Sciences.
